A fun and well-organized tour

I had loads of fun on the Niagara Falls Wine Tour! After a couple of stops at the wineries and wine tasting, the entire bus was giggling! I should do this type of winery tour more often! Besides the fun, the tour is well organized. Pick-up was on time, and our guide was funny and told us a lot about the area. Highly recommended!

Niagara Falls icewine was worth the trip

I went on this Ice Wine Niagara Falls Tour with a couple of friends from Vancouver. They went all across the country just to see Niagara Falls and try the famous icewine. Since I never tried it, I went along, and it was worth it! Loved the wine! We learned a lot from our tour guide, Mike, who was really passionate about the Niagara region's wine culture. We didn't feel rushed or anything, and we had a great time!

DESCRIPTION

Niagara Falls Wine Tour

PICK-UP AT THE AGREED LOCATION

Once picked up at the agreed location, you will meet your tour guide and fellow wine tasters. Along the way, the guide will tell you all there is to know about the wine culture and history of this area. Sit back and enjoy!

NIAGARA COLLEGE TEACHING WINERY (AND BREWERY)

One of the stops on the Niagara Falls Wine Tour will be the Niagara College Teaching Winery, the only fully licensed teaching winery in Canada. Here, you will sample some of their wines as your tour guide gives you a bit of context and the story behind each wine. A list of notable wine types they produce includes Riesling, Cabernet Rosé, and Syrah, as well as a good selection of sparkling wines. They also have a brewery, so you'll have a chance to try some of their excellent craft beers.

PILLITTERI ESTATE WINERY

Next on this winery tour is the famous Pillitteri Estate. Follow your guide as they take you around this award-winning estate. They have over 800 wine awards, and you'll definitely have a chance to try some of their best. If you ever wanted to have a taste of the unique icewine, this is the right place. The Pillitteri Estate is famous for having some of the best icewines in the Niagara Falls wine country.

KONZELMANN WINERY

This stop on your wine-tasting tour is located on the shores of Lake Ontario and offers some truly memorable views. You'd be forgiven for thinking you're somewhere in Italy! They produce a wide range of wines that include award-winning Pinot Noir and Merlot Reserve. However, they are most famous for their peach wine, which is made from locally grown peaches. Treat your tastebuds and enjoy!

LAKEVIEW WINERY

The rustic setting of this famous winery pairs wonderfully with their exquisite Pinot Grigio. They also produce Pinot Noir, Rosé, and a variety of sparkling wines. Although they are the youngest of the wineries that you'll visit, founded in 1991, they won many prestigious awards for their products. Join your tour guide for a short excursion and sampling of their wines.

NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE

Voted as the most beautiful town in Canada, Niagara-on-the-Lake is a perfect last stop for this tour. Here, you will have free time to stroll around, take a bite to eat, and do some shopping. Notice that almost all the buildings and public spaces of this picturesque town are decorated with flowers. Let the impressions of the day settle down as you board the bus on your way back. We hope that you forgot your daily worries and enjoyed a taste of easy living on the Niagara Falls Wine Tour.

After a day of visiting wineries and picturesque towns, there's no better way to end it than with a magical evening view of the illuminated waterfalls. Make it special with Niagara Falls night tour tickets.

Interesting facts about the Niagara wine region

  • Situated between 41 degrees and 44 degrees north latitude, the Niagara wine region is ideal for winemaking. For example, this is slightly below the latitude of the Loire Valley in France. What helps this area even more is its cool yet relatively mild climate. It is also protected from the harsh cold winds by the elevations and ridges of the Niagara Escarpment.
  • Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Franc are the most common varieties grown in the Niagara wine region. You will have ample opportunities for wine-tasting these varieties during the Niagara Falls Wine Tour!
  • Although wine is produced in almost all of Canada's provinces, Ontario is the biggest wine-producing region. It has the longest tradition, and it's home to Canada's only educational winery, the Niagara College Teaching Winery, which is included in the itinerary of the Niagara Falls Wine Tour!
  • The production of icewine in Ontario is regulated by the Vintners Quality Alliance. VQA wines have to follow strict standards, and the term "icewine" can only be added to the label if it is certified by the organization.
  • The icewines of the Niagara Falls region are known throughout the world. In fact, Canada is the world's leading producer of this richly flavored dessert wine! In our humble opinion, a nice bottle of icewine is the perfect souvenir to take home with you.
  • The Niagara wine region also lies along the migratory route of monarch butterflies, making it a unique blend of nature and viticulture. To experience this delicate side of Niagara, consider a visit to the nearby Butterfly Conservatory – it's worth booking your Butterfly Conservatory tickets in advance.
